RUTH DENBURG, ATTORNEY AT LAW
ABOUT THE ATTORNEY
I've been practicing law in West Los Angeles, California since 1981. Although I began my legal practice by taking all civil cases, I soon developed a reputation for excelling in family law and probate cases, and my
practice is now limited to those two general areas.
I obtained my bachelor's degree in paralegal studies at University of West Los Angeles in 1979, where I also obtained Certificates of Legal Assistant, Litigation Specialization and Real Estate Specialization. During this time, I worked for several different law offices, starting
out as file clerk, and advancing to legal secretary and paralegal. I just knew I was as smart as most of my attorney bosses, so I decided to try law school.
I attended the School of Law at the University of West Los Angeles, and graduated with a juris doctor (JD) degree in 1981. During law school, I was on the Dean's list multiple times, and served as Moot Court Chief Justice, on the Moot Court Board of Governors, and obtained the
Corpus Juris Secundum Student Award for Overall Legal Scholarship. My class standing at graduation was 19/123.
I passed the California Bar Exam on the first try, and was admitted to the California State Bar on December 1, 1981. This entitles me to practice law in all the courts of the State of California. I am also admitted to practice law in the United States District Court for the
Central District of California.
I have served as a volunteer attorney at Bet Tzedek Legal Services, a legal aid organization, and have also been a Small Claims Court Judge Pro Tem.
